Our contribution to empowering Tamil girls in sports in the North and East of Sri Lanka

We are pleased to share that our support has helped Miss Thayalaraj Tharmikka, a young talent from Batticaloa, Sri Lanka, participate in the South Asian Dueball Tournament, held in India from 16th to 20th August 2025.

Through our financial assistance, Tharmikka was able to compete at an international level. Her team performed remarkably, finishing as runners-up and earning a silver medal. This achievement was more than just a sporting victory—it represented new opportunities and hope in the face of challenges.

In her own words, Tharmikka expressed, “Without the financial and moral support from Ray of Hope People, this would not have been possible. Standing on the podium with a silver medal was one of the proudest moments of my life. It brought pride not just to me, but also to my family, my community, and to every girl who dreams of opportunities despite challenges.”

The tournament featured teams from five different countries, and the Sri Lankan side was particularly praised for their fair play and integrity. Beyond medals, this recognition highlighted the strength of character and determination within the team.

For us, the joy lies not only in supporting individual success but in seeing how such achievements inspire a wider community.
